First Brownie Meeting for 2013-2014

We enjoyed a low-key first meeting for our 3rd grade Brownie's.  We started it off with the Pledge and talked about what some of our favorite summer activities were.
Group Meeting

We were all introduced to Lexi, the newest member of the troop.  Next, Alison showed us how to make some really neat yarn butterflies for the girls to put on a bracelet.

First Meeting as 3rd Grade Brownies

Our first Brownies meeting will be Tuesday, October 1st at 6 p..m.

It will be held in the art room at the school.  Like last year, we will have the meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Due to a change in policy, we will have to pay for the room rental for our meetings.  We have decided, as a troop, to have the girls bring 50 cents to each meeting as part of their troop dues.  We are going to refer to the 50 cents as "subs" (as in subsidy), which is how our lovely troop leader will be referring to them.
(Subs = Dues)

Our 2013 meeting schedule is:

-Tuesday, October 1st (Jen)
-Tuesday, October 15th (Carrie)

-Tuesday, November 5th (Alissa)
-Tuesday, November 19th (Rosann)

- Tuesday, December 3rd (Barb)
-Tuesday, December 17th (Alison)

Names behind the meeting date are those in charge of bringing a small snack and/or drink for the girls for that particular meeting.

Don't forget to re-register your daughter (and yourself) through the Girl Scout website (here) for 2013-2014

It's hard to believe how much the girls have changed in a year.
I love it that most of them sat in the same spot as the 2012 picture.  Love these girls!

Insects, Arachnids and Crustaceans....oh my!

Brownies and Bugs

Can you spot the Praying Mantis?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Troop 2698 was lucky enough to have Boris Kondratieff from CSU come to our May 14th meeting with a cooler full of bugs...literally!

The cooler full of bugs

 Boris Kondratieff

Boris was so entertaining and you can tell how passionate he is about insects, arachnids, crustaceans and all of the other bugs that he talked about.  He was funny and so impressed with the girls knowledge of insects.  Thankful that we just wrapped up that unit at school!

"Rosie" the Tarantula

The big hit with the whole troop was "Rosie" the Tarantula.  They were each able to hold her for a moment.

Fulin opted to admire Rosie from afar...

The Scorpion got a reaction from all of the girls

Miya had some great questions for Boris Kondratieff

Troop 2698 on the News

The girls were featured on the weekly school news before Christmas break.  They were promoting a fundraiser that we are doing, collecting empty "scotch" tape rolls.
